The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect involved in a shooting that occurred in Southeast.
On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to DC FEMS Engine House 33 at 101 Atlantic Street, Southeast for the report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The location of the shooting was determined to be in the Unit block of Mississippi Avenue, Southeast.
Surveillance cameras were located in the area of the shooting and detectives identified the suspect, 39-year-old Davone Darnell Smith of Southwest, D.C. On Sunday, April 13, 2025, Smith was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
