The Metropolitan Police Department is the agency responsible for registering firearms in the District of Columbia. The sections below provide the information for you to comply with the District’s laws regarding legal firearm ownership. If you wish to register a firearm or apply for a Concealed Carry License, both require an in-person appointment.
